Rufus Isaacs is a Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Entomology at Michigan State University. He leads a lab group studying the management of pests and pollinators in berry crops and grapes. His research includes evaluation and implementation of habitat for bees that pollinate crops including highbush blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, and the extent to which this management tactic can support other beneficial insects. This work is done in close association with extension colleagues and farmers to evaluate the performance of management approaches on working farms. His research program is supported by federal, state, private, and agribusiness sources and he is the project director of the Integrated Crop Pollination Project. His lab’s work is published in scientific journals as well as in MSU Extension publications. Dr. Isaacs studied Biology (B.Sc, 1990) and Ecology (Ph.D., 1994) at The University of London and at Rothamsted Experiment Station in the United Kingdom.
